Welcome! If you’re reading this, it’s because you struggle to write clearly, concisely, and with impact.
Consider which sentence is better:
Sentence A: Some students often write sentences that are too long and full of many different ideas all at once, which can make it really hard for the reader to understand what they are actually trying to say.
Sentence B: Long sentences with too many ideas can confuse the reader.
The second sentence is clearly better. Why?
- Shorter and clearer – easier to read and understand quickly
- One main idea – avoids confusing the reader with too much information
- Stronger verbs – “can confuse” is more direct than “can make it really hard to understand”
- More formal and academic – fits IELTS tone better
- Better structure – subject and verb appear early and clearly
